2 September 2004 The speakers were all radical communists types. I agree with them, but their speeches are so boring. they should copy the entertainment value of the NOW rallies, but have more radical content.

2 September 2004 I was struck by the size of the croud, given that it was an hour walk from the closest subway station, due to road closures. Fortunately, I had scoped it out ahead of time and knew how to get there with minimal delay.

2 September 2004 And then a line of police went by in full riot gear, including the shields and alarmed some of the crowd.

2 September 2004 A bunch of fire trucks showed up just as the cops with the shields lined up. A bunch of people though they were going to get clubbed.

2 August 2004 It turned out thery were preparing to order us to disperse.

4 September 2004 This Middletown, CT liquor store has a neon sign that says "We Forgive But We Don't Forget." I've never been in there. I'm scared of it.

6 September 2004 One of the things I like about Connecticut is drying my clothes on the line. Why aren't these popular in California where it's sunny and dry much more often?

8 September 2004 Music Department coffee is swill. Pure, bitter swill. If it won't wake you up, nothing will. It could be much worse, actually. It doesn't cause indigestion.

8 September 2004 In my first gig as recording TA, I set up a mic over the banister in the library to record some Tibetan Monks below. I wish I had a copy of that tape, cuz the temple horns are wild. And damn it, I forgot to put the recorder away.
DSC01722.JPG
8 September 2004 The monks are in residence at the library making a Mendala. On september 11, they're going to put all the sand in a jar and throw it in the river, as a rembrance of those who died 3 years ago.

8 September 2004 Aleck is the music librarian. He gets the tapes of concerts when I'm done recording them. He'll also order any score or recording that the library ought to have. He's awesome.

8 September 2004 The tunnels under the CFA, between the concert hall and the practice rooms. There's apuddle on the floor because they leak in the rain. And they're below the water table. And it's perplexing why so much of the CFA is so deep underground when the area was known to be swampy.

8 Septmber 2004 The CFA tunnels. This connects the music department to the other arts buildings, including some used by film students. I bet this tunnel has been a set of many student movies.
