22 August 2004 Mosaic outside of Grant's Tomb (pictures were not allowed inside, so I cannto post a ppicture of the enormous marble coffins of Julia and Ulysses S. Grant, but beleive me, it's every bit as exciting as you suspect)

22 August 2004 Grant's Tomb is the highest point in Riverside Park and is surrounded by weird mosaic benches that look like they were inspired by Gaudi but designed by children.

22 August 2004 Trail in Riverside Park. Parts of it are not gardened and thus "wild." You can see NATURE but still talk on your CELL PHONE and drink a (vile east coast) LATTE, while storlling with your BOYFRIEND.

22 August 2004 Riverside Drive and the Hudson River as seen from Riverside Park. There were sail boats on the River. You could hear bugs and cars from there. Annea Lockwood did a tape piece called "Sound Map of the Hudson River." I can't remember if you can hear cars in it.

24 August 2004 The triumphal arch in washington square park. NYC tries to be Paris, but it's a lot more like London, imo.
